Approximately 20 minutes by seaplane from Malé International Airport, Bathala island is one of the less well known vacation islands in the Maldives.
All 46 rooms have air conditioning and the scuba centre is first rate. The house reef is famous for sharks and there are some great thilas in the area. Not too much else to do here during the day except swim or lay yourselves down on the beach and catch those rays. In the evening the bar is the place to be, and every evening is pretty much guaranteed to turn into an ad-hoc party after dusk.

Oh My God! The self same thing happend to me too. They are apparently clever creatures and have been around since before the dinosaurs, so they have had lots of practice. We need to get out there with a video cam and take some cool underwater syncronised sealife movies.
Scary Squid
We were snorkelling around on the house reef when 20 squid lined up next to me in a perfectly straight line. As I swam along the line, like a VIP inspecting the guards, they all turned slowy to face me. It was spooky.
