A divers paradise!
Filitheyo on Faafu Atoll is a large triangular island two sides are perfect for diving and you are more likey to see large fish here than on most other maldive islands. the third side opens onto the oter reef and the strong currents make it unsuitable for diving.
Eagle rays, Tuna and White tip sharks are pretty much guaranteed in the crystal waters around Filitheyo, and whatetver else you do, don't miss the boat trip to the manta ray feeding station.

I said I could stay right here on this spot all day and night. And that is exactly what I did. There is something really peaceful about the maldivian nighttime. Bar the occassional wandering crab I was left to meditate all night alone and will remember the experience for ever.
Drinks in the maldives
Yes the local booze can be a problem in the maldives, particularly when combined with the heat. The Tiger beer is good so stick to that.
Headache
Watch out for the rum cocktails which guarantee a hangover in the morning.
Not only a divers paradise
But also a lovely island for a relaxing holiday. Many visitors never bother to do anything but sit on the beach and relax completely and utterly. The Maldives are perfect for us lazy people as well as you sporty adventure types.
Turtles are best.
Forget the sharks, the turtles are the underwater stars at Filitheyo. Loggerheads and Leatherbacks both spotted during one dive.

White tip reef sharks hanging about just off the drop on the house reef. Mind blowing!
